My Guy and His Cigars

Friday, January 29th, 2010

My husband has been smoking cigars for several years now.  I keep enlightening him to stop, for plenty of reasons.  Of course because of his healthiness but the second is actually because it stinks our home up.  He smokes about 2 a day and I let him know each day to go outside with it.  We ultimately compromised and he is now smoking in our garage, if it is too cold to go outside.  This way, atleast when i have guest over I haven’t got to light twenty candles.  But recently, to my surprise I went in the garage to check on him and I smelled something terribly sweet and delightful.  I was shocked.  I did not know there were cigars that smelled good.  I asked him what it was, and he claimed it was CAO Flavored Cigars.  I didn’t know they even made flavored cigars.  I asked him how it tasted and he said that he was surprised, it was sweet, but not so sweet.  I still am not going to allow him come within with those things, but I was pleased to discover that there are cigars out there that don’t make me gag.

Flavored Tobacco and Cigars

Wednesday, January 6th, 2010

I have been smoking rum flavored cigars now for a couple years and always wondered how they were made. So I did some investigating and found that there are a variety of ways that cigar companies are flavoring their tobacco. I have found that there are some companies who prefer the extracts, which of course are more expensive. Other companies use artificial flavoring which are rather inexpensive. There are a few ways that flavored tobacco is created. The first is to spray the tobacco, creating a mist for the tobacco to absorb naturally into the pores of the tobacco leaves. Some tobacco’s soak with honey, vanilla, rum and many of other flavors. My favorite is the Rum flavored Miami Suites Cigars. A sweet and mild cigar that I have enjoyed for years. Sometimes more absorbent tobaccos can sit in a dedicated room and soak up the aromas. The more unappealing way is to mop the tobacco with syrup. I also have heard that at one company, beer is a major part in their cigar process. I am not sure if that is true, but I would try it if I came across it.
